I was walking out of Dick’s Sporting Goods yesterday and I was whistling a rather catchy tune, and some old lady passing by said to her middle aged daughter, “He must be in a happy mood.”
I must say I was taken aback by the comment as I walked back to my car. It made me feel good to see others experience what I have everyday, or try to make an effort to experience. It made me realize how a little more happiness can make someone’s day. I had no idea I was whistling; it comes naturally from when I was a kid til now. My Grandpa Joe (not the same Grandpa from Willy Wonka, if you’re wondering.) always whistled around the house, and I must’ve picked up on it and have been whistling around the house ever since. Happiness should be shared with everybody around you. A positive energy normally exudes from you and is definitely contagious. Don’t believe me? Do this: Next time you are at a party or social interaction, look for the person with the smiles and notice the how the people are around them and how they laughing and enjoying life. Then look for the scowl and stern faced people and how they are lonely and bored to death. Put yourself out there and stop being so serious all the time. You will see happiness attracts the awesome people. Now go chat with the the scowl faced person and brighten their day. Happiness should be for you and everyone.
So go out there and whistle while walking, listen to inspiring podcasts, be your goofy self
and start living your happy life.
Cheers,
Rex Felixx
P.S. Maybe I will go back to school to get my degree in Classical Whistling Performance or Basket Weaving.
