I realize I am getting older,
yet it still is a shock to the psyche.
One day you have all the free time in the world, but as the years pass by,
that free time evaporates and is filled with duties.
Being a dad, husband, brother, and friend—
all become even more important as you get older.
I mean, nothing really has changed dramatically in the past few years;
just the number keeps climbing.
God willing, I can become an old man reminiscing about the pre-internet days
and using an original iPod,
as the grandkids say, “Silly Millennial Grandpa,
this is how you use (insert new technology).”
I used to be so afraid of the future and what may come.
Now, I am at peace with life’s uncertainty
and enjoy each day as it comes.
I know it seems crazy to be so relaxed with the unknown—
ask me in another year when I hit 40 if I feel the same way.
Life moves too fast to be upset at every single thing that occurs.
I choose to be living, not dreading each day.
I leave you with this today:
Don’t be afraid of the future years ahead.
Pause and breathe for a moment,
and enjoy the minutes and hours right in front of you.
“Keep moving forward.” — Walt Disney
